Omanui Honey
Omanui Honey is extracted
from a beehive located in Waimauku, north of
Auckland. The hive
is situated in a rural setting next to a large
block of native Manuka, and is adjacent to open
paddocks of white and red clover.
The name Omanui
comes from two maori words, 'Oma' meaning escape
or freedom and 'nui' meaning great, large or
huge. Put together in English Omanui to us means
The Great Escape and the brand behind an entity
called Omanui Guest Cottages.
There are two
Omanui Guest Cottages, one is named Whitechapel
Cottage and is located in the Central Plateau in
a place called Taumarunui. The second is located
in Waimauku where the honey is collected. This
cottage is named Gatekeepers Cottage and is
situated within 100m of the beehive and on a
lifestyle block we call Pemberley Lodge.
